Washi tape vs. Crepe tape vs. Painters tape vs. Masking tape, what’s the different?

  • Washi tape:

    Washi paper has a smooth and delicate texture. It is often slightly translucent and has a natural, soft, and refined appearance.

  • Crepe tape:

    Crepe paper has a distinctive crinkled or wrinkled texture due to its manufacturing process. It has a more textured and rougher feel compared to washi paper.

1 inch inner core washi tape have a nice soft feel and easy to use. This type of masking tape is used for packaging, journals, decorate your planners, crafts, gift wrapping, and decor. But most of Washi tape use for painting job. So most of washi tape is used for painter’s tape.

Most of Crepe tape also is used for painter’s tape. Very few of them are used for high-temperature masking in the electronics industry.

For the above reasons, both Washi tape and Crepe tape in the industrial field are painter’s tape.

Masking tape Is a wider name, all tape that can be removed without residue, can be called masking tape. Whether it’s paper tape or cloth tape, or plastic film tape.
